Praise: I am thankful for friends that encourage me to study God’s Word and grow in my understanding of it.

Prayer: A teenage son of a friend fell and broke both of his wrists. He will be in casts for 6 weeks. I can only imagine the challenges that he and his family will endure during his healing process.

Ponderings: In our ladies Bible study we are studying I Samuel. Today, we discussed the narrative of David and Goliath. I briefly brought up the issue of how we teach our children the Bible stories, but didn’t fully explain my concern. After our group discussion was over, a friend and I continued on the topic for a bit (we did have children begging for our attention at that point.) One thing that we were considering was why do we leave so many of the details out? We tend to fantasize the story by adding funny voices and extra words, but we leave out many of the true details because we feel that they are too graphic. Couldn’t the real, jaw dropping details emphasize the weightiness of sin? Couldn’t they illustrate how wrong choices have serious consequences? Many cartoons or video games that are available for children to watch and play have death and destruction in them, and we as a society seem to be okay with kids watching them. Why leave it out in the stories from God’s Word? I’m still pondering this. So many “christian” kids grow up with a flippant attitude about righteousness. Is it because they don’t understand the result of unrighteousness? Feel free to leave your thoughts in the comments or shoot me an email.

Playfulness/Pictures:

crazy hair
I think this kid needs a haircut! He loves his crazy hair.

This morning, Darren informed me that “only boys are ninjas. Actually, I am a ninja. I’ve been trained since birth.”

Today, we were taking a red head girl home from school (who will remain anonymous.) One of my boys (also to remain anonymous) had a candy conversation heart with the words “Red Hot” on it. He informed me that the heart was like her. Then he qualified it to be “only part of it is like her…the red part.”

I (with the help of my favorite web guy) updated the Picture-A-Day photos to a gallery for easier viewing. If you click on where it says info in the top right corner of the gallery, it will pop up the picture’s description. Today’s word was best. I chose the best school subject…

Penny-pinching: Someone asked me to day if I had a Shop at Home referral link. I do. So if anyone else is interested, here it is: www.shopathome.com
